It feels pretty incredible to see what can happen when you focus on a niche, share what you know generously, and trust that there are people out there who value the same things you do. What started as me curating resources has grown into a true community and now, one that’s recognized as a bestseller, at least on Substack (we’ll take that as a win for now).
I think there’s a part here that also applies to your job search.
So many jobseekers feel pressure to present themselves as a “perfect fit” for any and every role, forgetting to pinpoint the elements that make you unique when it’s your niche, your intersectional lens, the way you think because of your lived experience that actually that sets you apart.
It’s those intersections that turn a good candidate into an unforgettable one.
Whether it’s a business or your job search, I believe you shouldn’t try appeal to everyone. The more you try to be everything to everyone, the harder it is for people to see you for your uniqueness. When you lead with your niche, that combination of skills, perspectives, and lived experience that no one else has, you make it easier for yourself to stand out from the crowd.
