Psychologists call this the progress principle, the finding that people feel and perform best when they see visible signs of progress toward a goal (Amabile & Kramer, Harvard Business Review). Momentum isn’t just motivational fluff; it’s a scientifically proven driver of persistence and success.
The best part is that when you’re in motion, your energy shifts. You walk into interviews with a different kind of confidence. That energy radiates. Recruiters feel it. Hiring managers notice it. Suddenly, the universe (or maybe just LinkedIn’s algorithm) seems to conspire in your favor.
So if you’ve just completed a final round interview and you’re waiting for an offer, my advice is to keep moving. Apply to one more role. Reach out to one more contact. Take that next small step.
